Description

This is the definitive guidebook describing the long multi-pitch rock climbing routes found in the southern half of Montserrat that is situated 35Km northwest of Barcelona. These routes find their way up the many conglomerate towers, pinnacles and faces that are unique to Montserrat, which are mainly bolted though there are some mixed and fully traditional routes as well. The guidebook covers 14 major rock climbing areas and details 580 multi-pitch routes, with many of these over 200m long, and across a wide range of grades from F3 to F7b+. A separate guidebook (volume 1) detailing the single pitch sport routes in this area is also available from our shop.

For each rock climbing area there is a good location map, with symbols indicating if the area is in the sun or shade, and if the area is subject to bird bans, what dates this is between. Symbols also indicted if the routes are fully bolted, a mixture of bolts and traditional, or fully traditional requiring nuts and cams. The total number of routes for the area is also given along with the grade spread. The guidebook also has lots of great photographs showing the diversity of the rock climbing to be found in the southern half of Montserrat.
