Description

This is a comprehensive guidebook covering the rock climbing in the slate quarries near Llanberis in North Wales. The guidebook details over a 1,000 routes, with the majority being located in the Dinorwig quarries that overlook Llanberis, along with some outlying areas such as the Gideon Quarries.

The slate quarries offer a mixture of Trad routes, such as the classic “Comes the Dervish” to well bolted sport routes across a wide range of grades (F5 to F9a). The style of climbing ranges from immaculate slabs with bold runouts that remain as Trad routes, to steep well bolted sport routes, including some huge multi-pitch extravaganzas.

All the routes are shown on colour photo topos, along with a description. For each of the main areas there are detailed approach maps and access information, along with a description of the style of climbing to be found.

Published in August 2018 by Rockfax, this guidebook covers all the different styles of slate climbing.
