Description

This is the definitive guidebook covering the Southern half of the Red River Gorge climbing area in eastern Kentucky. The guidebook covers those crags that lie south of Miguel's Pizza and the Mountain Parkway, and is volume 2 - of a two-volume series. The guidebook includes most of the popular sport crags and has some of the hardest climbs in America. With some fantastic solid well-featured sandstone, this area gives some steep, spectacular climbing, varying from traditionally protected cracks to some of the hardest sport climbs in America.

The guidebook describes over 1,500 routes, and the areas covered include Natural Bridge, Muir Valley, PMRP, Chocolate Factory, Motherlode, Flat Hollow, Bear's Den, and New Zoo.

All the routes are clearly shown on colour photo-topos along with a detailed description. The routes have a star grading, with the length of the route and when the best time of day is to climb (season dependent). The guidebook also has a 3 colour guide: Blue = Sport Climb, Red = Traditional and Green = Boulder.

At the start of each main area there is a location map and approach details with a brief description of the type of climbing to be found. At the beginning of the guidebook there is great map featuring the main roads and crag locations. There is also information about the local areas, about where to eat, where to stay and get fuel.

Published by Wolverine Publishing in March 2017, this is the 5th edition of this guidebook and it includes nearly 400 new routes and 3 new areas than the previous edition. It is in English text throughout, and includes many great action photographs.
