Description

This is a selective guidebook describing the best climbing to be found in Northern Scotland – essentially all the best crags north of the natural demarcation of the Great Glen. It describes over 2,550 routes ranging from multi-pitch mountain routes and convenient roadside crags, to delightful sea cliff climbing and sport climbing. The guidebook covers a wide range of grades from; Moderate to top end E grades; and sport grades from F5 to F8b+.

The guidebook is split into 10 main climbing areas, which are as follows: Isle of Skye, Applecross, Torridon, Gairloch, Goigach & Assynt, Sutherland, Caithness, Lewis & Harris in the Outer Hebrides, Pabbay & Mingulay in the Barra Isles, and Orkney in the Northern Isles.

The layout is clear with access and logistics for each area described, along with a brief history, and clear maps. There are overview photos of crags that show the approach and descent routes. All the routes are illustrated on colour photo topos along with detailed route descriptions.

Written by renowned Scottish climber, Gary Latter, and published by Pesda Press in April 2020. This revised 3rd edition includes over 300 new routes, 40 new topos and more than 50 additional action photos than the previous 2nd edition.
