Description

This guidebook describes the superb granite cragging to the south of Tafraout including trad rock climbing, sport climbing, and selected bouldering circuits. This fascinating selection of granite domes and crags are all within 7km of Tafraout, with everything from single pitch sport routes to multi-pitch trad adventures, and great bouldering. All the climbing is situated in a semi-desert landscape, characterised by short approaches, and year-round Saharan sunshine.

This guidebook describes almost 250 routes and boulder problems that are all shown on colour photo topos. The climbing here is very varied from desperate jamming cracks and monster off-widths to delicate, bolt-protected slab climbs and desert boulder problems. The grade ranged covered is from F3 to F8b for the sport routes, and Moderate to E7 for the trad routes.

The climbing is split into 6 main areas and covers 50 different crags. For each main area there is an approach map (1:25,000 scale), description of the climbing to be found, and GPS coordinates for the parking areas.

Published in November 2018 this guidebook is in English text throughout. It also includes everything needed to plan a trip, including when to go, how to get there, where to stay, where to get food, and what to do on your rest days, along with a detailed history of Tafraout climbing.

Each guidebook has a unique scratch code that allows you to download an app of the guidebook for both iOS and Android devices. Produced by Vertical Life it allows you to download all of the maps and topos to your mobile device.
