This Heron waterways map covers the Trent and Mersey Canal, River Trent and the Fossdyke Navigation at a scale of 1:50,000.  It also includes detailed town plans of Rugeley, Burton upon Trent, Willington, Nottingham, Newark-on-Trent and Lincoln at a scale of 1:12,500.

\n

The map covers the Trent and Mersey canal from Weston to Nottingham.  The map starts at Western (in Staffordshire) just above the Great Haywood Junction (connection with the Staffs & Worcestershire Cana), then passes through Rugeley, Fradley Junction (connection with the Coventry Canal), Burton Upon Trent, and Long Eaton on the outskirts of Nottingham.  Long Eaton is a waterways intersection linking the River Soar to the south, and the Erewash Canal to the North.

\n

From Long Eaton the River Trent continues until the navigable route leaves the Trent at Beeston Lock and heads along the Beeston and Nottingham Canals into the heart of Nottingham, before re-joining the River Trent at Trent Bridge.

\n

The map then covers the navigable River Trent from Trent Bridge to Torksey Junction, passing Newark-On-Trent.  The river is only tidal for 15 miles from Cromwell Lock (just outside of Newark) to Torksey Junction.  From here the Trent continues on to Gainsborough and eventually meeting the River Humber.

\n

The map then covers the Fossdyke Navigation from Torksey Junction to Lincoln.  Once through Torksey Lock it's 11 miles of lock free cruising into the heart of historic Lincoln.

\n

This map includes navigation and historical information, visitor moorings, marinas, boatyards and boat hire centres with contact details, facilities for the boat user, sailing and boat clubs, shops, post offices and distance markers. Information for the tourist includes tourist information centres, places of interest, pubs, nature reserves, parks, churches, national cycle routes, long distance paths, public toilets and caravan and camp sites.

\n

Published by Heron Maps in July 2022, and it is the 1st edition of this map.
